Everything's going super here! Andy got back into town on Sunday evening. He wasn't supposed to be home until the 21st but they sent him back early and we're certainly not complaining. :oD
Now that I have help, I've realised just how exhausted I am. I can actually take a minute to myself and I realize I'm comparable to the walking dead. Oh so tired. Well it didn't help that our nursing was wonky over the weekend. Sunday night the agency canceled our nurse but didn't replace her, so I stayed up until 2am waiting for a nurse to arrive. Then I was up again at 6 because our day nurse called out - surprise surprise.
I had to cancel all our appointments this week to figure out what's going on with Miss Mac. Her respirations and heart rate are up (and sats down) while she's sleeping... but otherwise she's okay. The pediatrician and I believe that she's outgrown her trach and needs to be upsized. So in the meantime I've been having her occasionally nap on the vent to ease her work of breathing. It's nothing terribly distressing, but not Mackenzie's norm. I was afraid it might be tracheitis (she had a few yellow secretions thrown in the mix), so I didn't want to take her all over 3 days in a row and run her down before her bronch. GI has been rescheduled for next Tuesday and the cardiologist and optomologist won't be until September.
In the meantime, Mommy is learning to cook. :o) Those who know me well know that I'm a terrible cook... except for baked ziti. (That's how I tricked Andy into believing I could cook - poor guy!!) Last night I made lemon chicken and tonight was teryaki chicken. Tomorrow is spicy pork chops. I'm kind of excited. I now know what egg noodles are and where to find them in the grocery store -- near the spaghetti for those wanting to quiz me. And today I discovered "evaporated milk" - who knew it existed? Major thanks to my bestest pal Nessa for coaching me through it. On the menu for the rest of the week is burgundy roast, cola ham, and another random chicken dish since we're all about chicken here.

I'm impressed! Do you guys like French Dips? I have a great crockpot recipe for them. And a super yummy shrimp pasta if you guys like seafood--it always gets rave reviews! And I have a couple good salad recipes that could turn into whole meals just by adding a grilled protein.
Ooh I would love that baked ziti recipe!
