Mackenzie's doing really well. On a good day she's sitting unassisted for almost a minute. She's also rolling over onto her tummy. She doesn't stay there too long... just enough to get a different view and roll back over. ;o) This week she has consistantly taken 20-30cc from her sippy each time it's been offered, which is 2-3 times a day depending if she's napping when it's time to eat. She's really coming along and making terrific progress. We're extremely proud.
We had to take a side step with the solid foods, but I think it will work well. Right now we're focusing on getting her to tolerate playing with the food. Then when she's more comfortable with hit, we'll try having her put some to her mouth (which she accidently does now anyway) and eventually tasting. Small baby steps. :o) ((I may have mentioned this in another entry??))
She has had a couple "off" days that had us thinking she might be getting an infection, so far so good! She had pretty yellow secretions last week, so I started Xoponex treatments for 48hrs and they cleared right up. Then the other night she was hanging out between 1/2 to 1 liter of oxygen without any other symptoms. She hasn't had any issues since -- I'm thinking it was just one of those odd occurances. It appears that every other night she's setting off her apnea alarm on her vent. She'll get her 12 whisper of a breaths and be fine. She goes to see her pulmonologist next week so we'll have an idea of where to go from here.
And here are a couple pics from our Fun with Pears time a couple days ago. Enjoy!

OH MY GOSH!! She soooo big!!! What have you been feeding that girl? She's growing like a weed.. and getting so cute! Well. .staying so cute.. she's always been cute! :)
Good to hear from you..
What kind of sippy are you using?
Mac is sooo cute. I love it when you post pictures.
Poppy - We alternate through a nice stash of sippies. If we use the same one over and over, Mackenzie will stop wanting to take it, so we try to keep things "fresh" and new. She doesn't quite remember that she doesn't like one or the other. We use Tommee Tippies, the Gerber Nuk, Avent sippie, Munchkin sippie, Dr Brown's sippie, and some no-name sippie that was like 99 cents. So far her 3 favorites are the Gerber Nuk, Tommee Tippie, and Avent. The Tommee Tippie and Avents are both free flow, so they get pretty messy but fantastic sippies IMO.
I can't believe how big she is! And what a cutie! :) I LOVE her smiles!
We have started trying a sippy cup but Autumn will play with it but will not suck it. I took the stopper out but it was too fast so put it back in. Any suggestions? We are also doing juice boxes with a straw so I can squeeze some juice into her mouth. She just spits it out though. I guess I should try the milk in the cup instead of the juice huh?
Lacy - You can try different styles and nipples. Some kids like the soft silicone tips (like the Gerber NUK), while others like the harder tips. You may want to try some free-flow cups too since she's not too into sucking. It's possible that once she gets some senstion in her mouth that she might remember what nippling was like and want to suck.
