I heart Sleepy Wraps!

Thanks to the suggestion of two of my bestest buddies (Nessa & Ashley), I ordered a Sleepy Wrap. It's an infant carrier that is essentially one gigantic scarf that you do some linen oragami with and it turns into a wonderful, ultra-comfy, carrier. I'm in love with it, and Mackenzie is too. :o) The past two times I've put her in it, she's fallen asleep within 10 minutes. She face plants forward and zonks out (see pic on right), so I have to carefully position her trach mask to make sure she's not occluding her airway. I've mastered the art of connecting her MicKey extension tube while she's in it facing me, and she's only puked on me twice while in it and eating -- which is utterly fantastic. I will say it is a major pain trying to suction her by myself, but it's getting better and I think I'm getting the hang of it.

I was talking with another trach mom yesterday about how anal we are. I'm a very particular person and I can only imagine how frustrating that must be to Andy. I have different soaps for just about everything (Burts Bees for Mackenzie, Johnson & Johnson for trach ties, Ivory for trachs and trach supplies, Pure & Clear for syringes and other feeding supplies), different wash basins for items (one for trach supplies, one for suction equipment which can ONLY be used for suction stuff, one for syringes), and even have a set procedure for washing things (like syringes are washed, set in the syringe basin -on top of a paper towel- to dry, then placed in the nursery sanitizer to sterilize before being put together and seperating into bags). Everything has a home and God forbid you put a trach mask in her O2 supply drawer... I might have a heart attack. All I can say is thank goodness Andy loves me. ;o) And, of course, thank goodness there are other parents who are just as bad!

One of Andy's bosses is having a cook out this Friday at his place in Southern Pines. As long as Mackenzie's up for it and the weather is nice (right now it's saying 95 so maybe not), we'll be going. Andy wants to show Mackenzie horses for the first time. I'll make sure to takes lots of pics of that. lol I'm sure Mac will stare at them with an open mouth like she usually does when she sees something new. ;o) It's quite cute! I don't think we'd stay much longer than an hour or so, but I know Andy really wants to go. We shall see!!!

i don't think you are anal! just detail oriented! How can you not be with a baby like Mackenzie? She is a preemie after all! Let's just say that you have done a very good job by being "anal"!

Jenn,

I read your blog and looked up the sleepy wrap! I have been looking for some time now for a carrier that I can have Emma in, that will not kill my back, but will last longer than a few months!

I ordered one and got it today! I totally agree with you Emma loves the carrier and so do I!

Thanks!!!
